Taxes zone-8 is responsible for collecting income tax from certain category of taxpayer of Dhaka Metropolitan area. It is a specialized zone comprising of 22 circle offices providing services for the taxpayers. The zone serves around 50,000 taxpayers. Two additional commissioner and two joint commissioners of taxes supervise the circle offices. The zone is different from other traditional taxes zones in that some special taxpayers such as architects, lawyers, FCA's and all pharmaceutical companies in the Dhaka metropolitan area are assessed in this zone. The zone is relatively large in administrative size and all the offices are located in two different premises at Bijoynagar, Dhaka, in the heart of the city.
